South of the Border: Traditions is a Music Residency Series, Open to the Public and sponsored by Hamline University’s Music Department and the Minnesota Global Arts Institute. We are presenting 4 residencies in 2015 (February, March, September and October). Each residency includes a ticketed concert of Minnesota artists performing in different traditions from the Latin American world, free lecture demonstrations by the musicians, elementary school programs, participatory music events to let you experience these musics in culturally appropriate contexts and music and dance hands-on workshops. These events are funded by Hamline University and a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board.
